Worlds

Platypus SMP uses Multiverse Core to run multiple worlds at the same time. Each world has a different purpose, so make sure you're in the right one for what you want to do.

Available Worlds

🌍 Overworld (Main World)

The primary survival world. This is where you build your base, join a town, and live out your Minecraft life. The overworld is permanent - your builds here are safe and protected.

  • Land can be claimed with Towny
  • PvP requires consent outside of arena plots
  • The world border is set to a fixed size

🔥 Nether

The nether dimension connected to the main world. Use it for:

  • Fast travel (1 nether block = 8 overworld blocks)
  • Gathering nether resources (blaze rods, quartz, netherite)
  • Accessing fortresses and bastions

Build carefully in the nether - unclaimed areas are not protected.

🔚 The End

The end dimension for fighting the Ender Dragon and collecting end-game resources like:

  • Elytra (from end cities)
  • Shulker shells
  • End stone and purpur blocks

⛏️ Resource World (if available)

A dedicated world for mining and gathering resources. This world resets periodically so the overworld stays clean and the terrain isn't ravaged by strip mining.

Use the resource world for:

  • Strip mining for ores
  • Chopping large forests
  • Clearing terrain for materials

Do not build permanent structures in the resource world - it resets and everything will be lost.

Traveling Between Worlds

Use portals to travel between dimensions:

  • Nether portal - links the overworld and nether
  • End portal - found in strongholds, links to the end
  • Staff may set up /warp points to key locations in each world
/spawn - Returns you to the main world spawn
/warps - Check for world-specific warp points

World Borders

Each world has a border set by Chunky Borders. The border is pre-generated so you'll never encounter unloaded terrain within it - no lag spikes when exploring new areas.

If you reach a world border you'll get a visual warning. You cannot pass beyond it.

Tips

  • Always build your permanent base in the overworld inside a claimed town plot
  • Use the resource world for gathering - leave the overworld terrain natural
  • The nether highway system (if one exists) is the fastest way to travel long distances in the overworld
  • Check the live map to see which parts of the world are already explored
