Towns & Nations

Platypus SMP uses Towny to let players create and manage towns and nations. Towny is the core of the server's land protection system - your plots are safe inside a town.

What Is a Town?

A town is a group of players sharing claimed land. The player who creates the town is the Mayor. Towns can grow by recruiting residents and claiming more chunks. Towns can then band together into Nations for diplomacy and shared benefits.

Getting Started

Joining an Existing Town

You don't have to start your own town. You can ask a mayor to invite you, or find an open town.

/t list - Browse all towns
/t <townname> - View a town's info
/t join <townname> - Join an open town (if it accepts open joining)

Creating Your Own Town

  1. Find a location away from other towns
  2. Run /t new <townname> to found your town - this costs money (check /worth)
  3. The chunk you're standing in becomes your first town block (the homeblock)
  4. Invite others: /t add <player>

  • Use /t claim to expand your territory as you grow
  • Build your town spawn somewhere welcoming so visitors have a good first impression
  • Set /t set open if you want people to freely join your town
